OVERVIEW 

On.Point is an exciting new talk show that gives young people a chance to air their views and showcases new talent - we aim to entertain & inspire.  There is discussions, music, interviews and youth views!

On.Point means to be “Up to par...ready to perform at best...ready to get down to business”.  Y-E-L believes that media can be used as a vehicle to reach young people and help draw them from a negative state.  We will be there to support them through a period of positive change and success.
 

BROADCAST AVAILABILITY
 
On 2nd April 08 Y-E-L formed a partnership with the Community Channel to broadcast a series of On.Point shows.  The first show premiered on Wednesday 18th June 08 at 8:30amThe channel is available to 16.5 million digital households in the UK, has 41 million potential viewers and around 1.2 million people tune in every month (source: BARB).
It can be found on:  Sky 539 Virgin TV 233 Freeview 87 (6-9am)
 
The show is also broadcasted on Premier.tv, an on-demand television platform (VOD). Clips are available on YouTube and Myspace.
 
The aim is for On.Point to be eventually shown on a main UK TV channel – channels 1 to 5.

3rd Show:EDUCATION – Why it’s Important!” features music and an interview with married Hip Hop duo Royal Priesthood plus a clip of their film ‘Broken Silence’.  We also have views from David ‘Watchman' Williams (CEO of RAP Mentors) and Young People.   This was shown on the Community Channel on Wednesday 3rd September 08 at 8:30am and is regularly repeated.

   

 

2nd Show:ENTERPRISE – Release the Entrepreneur in you!” featured an interview with Chipmunk (UK no.1 hit plus 2008 and 2009 MOBO Award Winner), music from Cherri V plus views from Dwain Forde (CEO of Zaniti Properties) and Young People.  This was shown on the Community Channel on Wednesday 9th July 08 at 8:30am and is regularly repeated. 

  

 

1st Show: GANGS – What’s the Solution?” featured music and an inspiring interview with G-Force (2007 MOBO Award Winners), Darrell James (Former Gang Member / Award Winning Youth Worker) plus views from Young People.  This was shown on the Community Channel on Wednesday 18th June 08 at 8:30am and is regularly repeated.

Nathan John has been involved in the following:
 
  • Presented in a four minute documentary called 'Points of Youth', which was shown at the BBC Children's Festival 2009, worked with CBeebies where he devised recommendations on improving diversity and worked on BBC1's Inside Out as a freelance researcher.  Nathan recently worked as a researcher for M & Y Films on a series of one minute films on knife crime, which were funded by the Home Office. He found and interviewed young men whose powerful stories highlight the consequences of choosing to be involved with knives.
  • Interviewed over 100 times on BBC / ITVChannel 4 / Sky News / BEN TV / MBC / Bangla TV / Capital 95.8LBC / Choice FM / Premier Christian Radio / Colourful Radio / The Guardian / thelondonpaper / U.S News and World Report / The Voice Newspaper Epoch Times plus local newspapers in relation to challenges facing young people while proposing solutions.  He has gone on to conduct interviews for ITN and Choice FM plus has arranged interviews for BBC, ITN, Premier Christian Radio, Choice FM and The Voice Newspaper.  This forms part of the media relations division of the company
  • Included in The Voice newspaper's top 20 Movers and Shakers of 2009Other names include President Barack Obama, Baroness Scotland, Lewis Hamilton, Usain Bolt, Levi Roots plus more...
  • Appeared on various panels including one at the BBC Children’s Festival 2009, The London Peace Lecture at the Mayor’s Office plus has chaired a panel at the London Schools and the Black Child conference, which was hosted by the former Mayor of London and Diane Abbott MP
  • Delivered motivational workshops and inspiring speeches at Schools, Colleges, Community Centres, Feltham YOI, BUC's 'Black Boys in Business' and much more!
  • Mentored several young people and ran monthly workshops at New Cross Apostolic Church - COOLJC, where he was also a Sunday School Teacher and now an Elder 
  • 6 years accountancy experience working in London for various leading financial institutions such as Bank One, Ernst & Young LLP, Citigroup and RBS. Nathan has 10 GCSEs, 3 A’ levels and is ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) part qualified
