Go Beyond Youth Achievement Programme

"Inspiring excellence,

building confidence

and unleashing potential"

 Overview

The Go Beyond Youth Achievement Programme (Beyond) is specially designed to help young people at risk of being Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). Beyond‘s overall goal is to support, equip and inspire those at risk of being NEET to realise their potential, be it academically or in their career aspirations.  The term lasts for 10 months.

This programme is youth-led, innovative and offers development opportunities for the young people (mentees) and mentors.

Structure of programme

  • Mentoring – one-to-one mentoring of each young person is a key element of Beyond. We will recruit volunteers who have the right skills, experience and attitude to be mentors. The minimal requirement is a one hour mentoring session during the 1st week of the month. All mentors will be trained and undergo an enhanced Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check.
  • Workshops10 monthly topics during the 3rd week of the month, which will include: 1) Confidence Building, 2) Setting Goals, 3) The Art of Communication, 4) The Importance of Education, 5) Career Awareness, 6) CV Writing, 7) Interview Techniques, 8) Handling Peer Pressure & 9) Time Management & Revision Techniques and 10) Community Give Back
  •  Work Visits – visiting a range of businesses in places such as Canary Wharf, The City etc… to give young people the experience of being in a prestigious environment and for them to engage with successful individuals
  • Parental Commitment - engaging the parents to gain parental consent and support at home
  • Award – points are awarded by the mentor for participation, punctuality, attendance and improvement in their attitude to education. The mentee will be able to convert the points into a prize of their choice up to a certain value. There will also be a group trip, the location will be dependent on how well the entire group performs
