Purpose and aims
 
The Youth Enlightenment Limited Youth Consultancy aims to give a young person’s prospective, come up with innovative ideas and solutions.
  
 
Services provided
  1. General Consultancy: Providing advice and constructive feedback on a range of items such as products, services, ideas, strategies etc…
  2. Spokesperson: Delivering your message on your behalf to ensure it is made in the most appropriate fashion and through the most appropriate channels to maximise the impact of favorable messages, and to minimise the impact of unfavorable messages.
  3. Project Management: The planning, monitoring and control of all aspects of a project and the motivation of all those involved in it to achieve the project objectives on time and to the specified cost, quality and performance.
  4. Public Relations: Gaining you exposure to your target audience. The essential functions include research, planning, communications dialogue and evaluation. We have strong relationships with BBC, ITV, Sky News, Choice FM, Premier Christian Radio and The Voice Newspaper.
 
Lead Consultant
Nathan John 
Social Entrepreneur / Programme Maker / Motivational Speaker 
 
Y-E-L’s lead consultant is Nathan John, who has been involved in the following: 
  • Community Cohesion Adviser to the Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock
  • Adviser to the Stephen Lawrence Review, which was conducted independently by Dr Richard Stone (panel member of the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry as Adviser to Sir William Macpherson). Other responsibilities included general coordination and project management of the Youth Forum (see SLR Report)
  • Member of the NPIA’s Stop and Search Community Panel and a member of the Mayor of Lewisham’s Youth Task Force
  • Presenter / Producer of On.Point - The TV Youth Chat Show and has presented in a four minute documentary called 'Points of Youth' that was shown at the BBC Children's Festival 2009.  He also worked with CBeebies where he devised recommendations on improving diversity and worked on BBC1's Inside Out as a freelance researcher
  • Interviewed over 100 times on BBC / ITV / Channel 4 / Sky News / BEN TV / MBC / Bangla TV / Capital 95.8 / LBC / Choice FM / Premier Christian Radio / Colourful Radio / The Guardian / thelondonpaper / U.S News and World Report / The Voice Newspaper / Epoch Times plus local newspapers in relation to challenges facing young people while proposing solutions. He has gone on to conduct interviews for ITN and Choice FM plus has arranged interviews for BBC, ITN, Premier Christian Radio, Choice FM and The Voice Newspaper.  This forms part of the media relations division of the company
  • Appeared on various panels including one at the BBC Children’s Festival 2009, The London Peace Lecture at the Mayor’s Office plus has chaired a panel at the London Schools and the Black Child conference, which was hosted by the former Mayor of London and Diane Abbott MP
  • Attended meetings at: 1) Mayor's Office - Mayor of London, Boris Johnson as part of a forum “discussing urgent solutions to youth violence in London”, 2) Home Office - Carole Eniffer, who is the Head of Gun and Knife Crime Section, 3) New Scotland Yard - Superintendent Leroy Logan MBE
  • Delivered motivational workshops and inspiring speeches at Schools, Colleges, Community Centres, Feltham YOI, BUC's 'Black Boys in Business' and much more!
  • Mentored several young people and ran monthly workshops at New Cross Apostolic Church - COOLJC, where he was also a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader.  He is now an Elder 
  • Partly organised ‘Citi Opportunities’ at Citigroup Investment Bank. This was a one day event for ethnic minority students, where they learnt about the bank and met / heard from employees
  • Initiated and partly developed the Ernst & Young Black Network Youth Programme. This was a mentoring programme ran at Bacon’s College during the 06/07 term
  • 6 years accountancy experience working in London for various leading financial institutions such as Bank One, Ernst & Young LLP, Citigroup and RBS. Nathan has 10 GCSEs, 3 A’ levels and is ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) part qualified
